St. Et's favourite drag queen

Christ on a rope from the preview i think this is gonna work!!

Ok so it was Christmas/New Year 1994 and I'd just decided to drop out of my Maths & Chemistry degree at Sheffield University. I was home for the holidays and staying up late and sleeping in late, totally depressed and getting an ear bashing from my Mum almost daily (like i didn't feel bad enough).

One early afternoon i had the post flung at me to wake me up and there was a package with the heavenly records logo on the franked sticker.
I'd joined the St. Etienne fan club in April when i saw them live at Sheff Uni and hadn't received anything up to this time. It was the "I love to paint" album. Totally free and containing delicious unreleased and demo choonz!! It cheered me up no end and to date remains my fave St Et album.

I was offered $800 for this album in 2002 by an American fan who had a copy but wanted the original. I was in the process of buying my 1st flat at the time and was stoney broke so i seriously considered it for a week or so but decided that i'd only have to buy the album back at some point in the future so held onto it!

The following is a link for a song that is described as follows on the inlay sleeve...

"A demo intended for our favourite drag queen, Naomi Campbell. Sadly she decided against becoming a disco diva, joining U2 and penning the 90's equivalent of "Slaughterhouse Five" instead.

This was demo'd in 1993 around the time they were writing for Kylie's 1st post-PWL album and I always wondered if this was similar to the stuff they did for Kylie which made it "too pop" (as if there's such thing!)

If anyone can tell me how to reduce the link above to an easy "St Etienne - Everything I touch.mp3" I'd be internally grateful.

Much love

This is starting to annoy me already...

Saint Etienne and the delicious Grigson

Well because of Paul at http://thezapping.blogspot.com/ and PinkieDust at http://popeatspop.blogspot.com/ i seem to have inadvertantly created this blog!

I only wanted to reply to a comment about Saint Etienne and ended up making an account - thought it was far more complex than this! I'm afriad I'll get hooked for life and it'll steal my limited free time away but hey ho!

So i'm having a Saint Etienne day today, such a wealth of material and different "era's" to go through. Currently listening to "Finisterre" which i was lucky enough to see live in 2002 at the Manchester Ritz. I went alone as St. Et. fans are thin on the ground these days. :-(

Anyways i wanna see if this actually works before i continue and then i need to learn how to put pics/links/choonz up.

Ciao 4 now
